On April 23, 1977 in the small farm town of Newport, Arkansas, Pastor Kimberly R. Harris was born to Sarah H. Williams and Kurtz F. Griffin.
The second child of unwed teenage parents, Pastor Kimberly was reared by her mother in her grandparents’ home along with her older sister. Pastor Kimberly’s childhood memories of church do not reach beyond occasional visits to a small church located in her neighborhood. However, because she had family members who were spiritual including a great aunt who founded a Pentecostal church in Diaz, Arkansas, she had always believed in the existence of God.
Despite her belief in God, Pastor Kimberly became withdrawn at a very young age, and though very successful academically, she spent most of her years as an undergraduate student spiraling down a path plagued with alcohol, drugs, and abusive relationships. It wasn’t until after she had received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and moved to Sherwood, Arkansas that she would meet the man whose testimony about Jesus saved her life. Her then friend, Pastor B. Harris ministered to her the need for salvation and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Following several weeks of fervent prayer and study of the Word of God, Pastor Kimberly received Holy Spirit baptism and subsequent water baptism.
In the summer of 2007, Pastor Kimberly along with her family moved in obedience to God to Fayetteville, Arkansas where they founded Ablaze Ministries. She currently serves diligently alongside her husband in ministry as a teacher, a counselor, a member of the Ablaze Ministries praise team, and Women’s Ministry President. A nationally certified personal trainer and NASM Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist, she is also actively pursuing a PhD in Health Science at the University of Arkansas where she is a graduate assistant in the Health Promotions Department. Her prayer is that through her obedience to God, the unreached will come to know Christ and become disciples of our Living Savior. |
